Choreographer/Instructor
My dance career began at the young age of 3. My Mother enrolled me in classes in an effort to help with my shyness. Much to her surprise, I LOVED it and it worked!! Dance classes have helped develop me into the person I am today. I came to Cottrell Dance Studio as a student at the age of 10 and it has been my home ever since. At the age of 16, I became an Assistant Teacher and continued to assist until I became a part time instructor at the age of 21.
Once I graduated from Auburn University, I went to work for my father's accounting firm, Messer and Associates in West Point, Georgia and took over that business in 2001. This has allowed me the flexibility to be able to continue teaching dance. That is especially important to me due to the fact that I'm Mom to two daughters of my own, Emma Claire 7 and Ivy Jane 4. I want to develop in them the same love of dance that I have experienced.
During my time as a dance student and competitor, I was fortunate to be able to perform in the Opening Ceremonies of the 1996 Summer Olympics, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Half time Shows of the famous Orange Bowl in 1996 and 1997. During my years competing with "Judy's Super Stars", I won numerous trophies and special awards, including "Best Choreography". I believe the knowledge I gained through the competition experience has helped me in my adult life in dealing with the public on a personal as well as professional level.
Dance has opened so many doors for me and I look forward to the opportunity to pass this knowledge on to your child.
